Sherwood TV ad apologizes for affair, suit

Addressing the extramarital affair and battery lawsuit that have placed his political future in jeopardy, U.S. Rep. Don Sherwood has produced a TV ad in which he apologizes for “disappointing” voters.

In the 32-second spot, which began airing this week, the four-term Republican sits alone in front of a bookshelf that holds what are apparently family photos, looks straight into the camera and states:

“I made a mistake that nearly cost me the love of my wife, Carol, and our daughters.”

Sherwood, 65, says he and his family have “worked through this because of my deep regret, our love and the fact that the allegation of abuse was never true.”

Sherwood has admitted to a five-year affair with 30-year-old Cynthia Ore of Maryland, but denied allegations in her lawsuit that he repeatedly assaulted her. Sherwood and Ore agreed to a confidential out-of-court settlement last November.

Congressman Sherwood is one of those decrepit weirdos so beloved of the system. A pliable stooge of special interests, Sherwood has been a vociferous pro-illegal alien amnesty partisan and is an Israel-First neocon.
