I remeber there was a post entitled "Forum Media", a few months ago that was very successfull. Lots of forum members posted some general images and videos of explosives and weapons.
So I thought now that some time has passed and their are new members here , we should post some of our stuff. But of course the pictures aren't really of our stuff [Wink] , just some pics we found on websites that are now since 404'ed [Wink] .
I'll post some stuff once I find a place to up it to.

ALENGOSVIG1, so you are saying I can't ask any question on other people's pics? [Confused] That doesn't sound very fair.

Sorry to go off-topic, but it seems that many people could use this tidbit of information. If this post is intolerable, go ahead and delete it. Go to free.prohosting.com for a far better free website hosting service. You will be able to click on the posted links that point to the image with that service.

I've found that instead of copying and pasting the urls, you can simply drag and drop them over the address bar. At least in explorer 5.5.

i've found some very nice amateur video's taken at the PGI convention in 1993. The filmer is dutch(it comes from a dutch site where i am a moderator on the forum) here they are:

Big Cracker
I don't think this cracker is filled with Flashpowder as you can't see a flash or something. I think H3.

Some Pyro's showing some or their goodies
no comment

Other video's:

Chinese Firecrackers roll 100.000 horse brand taken in Rotterdam

Roll whit whistle and salutes
the larger booms you here are called 'Dieptebommen' wich is similair to Deptbombs(for under-sea bombing)

Titanium Salutes(amateur video)

i have more later [Wink]

Nice pics everyone!

You`ve got quite a good lab-setup, mr.evil. Reminds me of the one I used to have in my room. I have disposed of most of my chemicals and equipment now, due to the risk and I never used most of my chemicals, but my chemicals-list used to be around 50, pretty nice for my, at that time, low age.

DBSP, looks like you have a great place for setting off big HE charges. Have you never had any "visitors" at your test site??

A_W, that place isn't to far from the town where I live but people never visit that place becase it's quite hard to get there.

And it is indeed a good place, if you look at my last pics and go a further 10m out and 5m to the left the water is more than 4m deep. When I was smaller I tried to dive to the bottom but I never succeded doing so so it's quite deep there, some say over 5m.

As soon as the water gets a bit hotter I'll take an inflatible boat and meassure the depth. And then I'll detonate a charge that weights(in kilos) half as much as the depth.

Rat Bastard: Oh, it's very simple. You crush the tablets and dissolve them in water, then you filter the binder out and evaporate the water.

what do you pay for one package of Esbit fuel tablets? And how big are they? i make my Hexamine myself(CH2O + NH4OH) but as it has a very bad yeild(about 50%) i think i'll use esbit in the future.

by the way, i can buy esbit per package for 2,30$

mr.evil,

In your video of the titanium salutes, i noticed something fruity.
About 30 seconds into it there is a distinctive boom that stands out, and what sounds like someone yelling out in pain. [Confused]

Do you know what happened?

Esbit here is expensive, 3.4$ / packet. But I don't use very much of it, therfore it's ok. One packet contain 20 tablets(4 x 20 grams) each containing only 2.5 grams of HTMA. That is 2.5 x 20 = 50 grams/packet. I don't want to bother with formaldehyde, therefore I'm willing to pay 0.068$/gram.

Stay on topic!

The thread is a place to post media, not to chat about hexamine and such. Currently there are 34 replies, and only 16 have links to media.

And please people, make sure the links work before you post them. That way, we wont have tons reply's about the links not working.

...so we can't ask about info on someones picture? That is not off topic, we are simply asking info on peoples devices, and you are slagging us for it. How are we supposed to learn that way? isn't this a place for learning?

Rat Bastard, do NOT flame a mod. If you wanted to know about his chemicals, email him. If you think the procedure he uses is very new and innovative, then make a topic about it in misc. However, his method is neither, not that it isn't effective. I'd leave it there Rat Bastard.

Here are some pics of some permanganate flash going off. The flash is permangante/Al made with the acetone method. Aprox. 7 grams.

Ready to go, used some slow BP as a fuse, since I don't have fuse and didn't want to bother with electrical ignition.

Great Pic. Anyone know what happened to the crispy looking guy close to the explosion. I'm sure I can see his pants smoking already...............

Edit: Aaaaaah, I've just noticed the tone and content of some mod posts in this thread, having only just looked at the United Nuclear picture. If I were able to delete this post that's what I'd do, but I'll have to make do with an apology - sorry etc.

That picture is really great! but i've discovered some mistake, the tiny man you can see on the pic, doesn't exist in real. Look at this site: http://www.unitednuclear.com/mag3.htm you can see the same pic, but without the man... [Roll Eyes]

What kind of fuel did they used with the NH4ClO4? Al? C? [Confused]

correct me if i am wrong but for me the whole picture looks FAKE. the reason is: that kind of explosion is really bright and thus the close enviroment gets really "sunny" like at day time. You can't even see the ground around the mushroom cloud.

i'm not a pro photographer neither a pyrotechnic and this is just my opinion.

I agree, the surrounding should be bright and the objects should cast shadows.

...And the ammonium perchlorate solid fuel contains also powdered Al, so the flame will be VERY bright. Some sort of flash powder actually.

I heard that even the inventor of this solid fuel said "Oh, but it's so bright !" when he saw for the first time a Columbia space shuttle launch.

Nice picture. Looks like one of my accidents.
One possible explanation for the dark background is that cameras have automatic exposure control. Notice on the photo that the center of the fireball is very bright.

Actually, the picture in the magazine (without the man) is the altered picture.

Using photoshop, I resized the picture with the man to the exact size (to the pixel) and orientation as the picture in the magazine scan. Then I checked the picture where the man is/was. You can see in the picture without the man a lighter area in the exact size and shape of the man, where he was erased from the picture.

The editors probably had him removed from the picture so they wouldn't be getting inquires about what happened to him, who was he, etc.

Here are a few pictures I found today (Someone was thinking of making a fireball, but didn't have any napthalene and didn't want to mess around with gasoline, she sent me some pictures):

http://w1.478.telia.com/~u47802930/AlFAE01.jpg (Ready to go)
http://w1.478.telia.com/~u47802930/AlFAE02.jpg (a couple of grams 25um Al propelled and ignited by 20 grams BP )
http://w1.478.telia.com/~u47802930/AlFAE03.jpg (smoke01)
http://w1.478.telia.com/~u47802930/AlFAE04.jpg (smoke02)
http://w1.478.telia.com/~u47802930/AlFAE05.jpg (device, burned out)
http://w1.478.telia.com/~u47802930/BlackPowder400grams.jpg (via CIA method)

Someone was eaten alive while taking these pictures, there were litterary millions of bugs. Someone was running around trying to avoid them but didn't manage to get away.
Not very impressive, but hey they are pictures. [Wink]

This site has a few excellent quality videos of violent reactions in a lab.

It also has lots of footage of people doing highly irresponsible things with fireworks. Isn't it great watching others risk life and limb for our entertainment?

Today I had nothing to do so I decided to go KEWL.
I made some KEWL napalm (gasoline-styrfoam) and then mixed some KNO3-sugar. I poured about 50ml of napalm into a bag and put 15g of KNO3-sugar ontop of it then lit it. It would be an excelant firestarter if put on a sofa or similar.

test #1

the KEWL device

ignition

just after

a while after

5 mins later

Today I made small(shity) LSC which I detonated today. Got some pics for you.

http://w1.478.telia.com/~u47804009/E&W/blastaffects.JPG

As you can see it's only made of paper and only contained 60g of ANNM. If it had been metal it might have worked.

As you might have noticed I havent been here for a while now, thats because I've been at the hospital where some nice nurses have been looking after me [Wink] [Razz] . I've now got an infection in the heart, which means that I'm not allowed to work or anything for 6 weeks, no money this summer. [Mad]

Oh, sorry to hear about your heart. That can be really nasty.
What about that cap, made out of a plastic straw, what's the radius of it and how much primary did it contain?
I have been building a wooden box(plywood, open in one direction, BC contained in plywood cylinder) today, nothing advanced, will probably use it in combination with sandbags when dreaming about pressing caps(haven't done that before). I'm working on a smaller model of my current BC:s, therefore pressing will become nessessary.
I have been thinking of LSC too, have some nice metal pieces in my dads garage, will try it later. I will post some pictures of my blast screen here tomorrow.

Today tried detonating 800g of AN/35% rc fuel. I was qurius about how well it worked, dissapointed. Even though I had 80g of straight ANNM it didn't work very well. Sorry for the shity pics.

Today I succesfully cut a metal plate which was 6mm thick with an LSC. It was made bu cutting out a segment of a metal pipe and replacing that part with an angled plate, then epoxying it into place. I used about 45g of aluminised ANNM and a 1,5 g HMTD det.

Mostly air-cannon \ explosives...
At the moment, ive got one group of fotos off the camera.

My combustion spudguns, the 12 gauge pneumatic piston gun, a slug being dissolved in fuming HCl [Mad] , a couple cratermakers and a couple snippets of AP production.

Damage fotos are the next to come [Smile]

Pictures of my fireworks this year:

Note: Yes, I registered a short time ago and post at TOTSE. I figured with so many beginners there I could actually help a lot more people. I know many people here at more advanced than I am at this time. I come here to learn, go there to teach, and do a bit of both at either site.

I haven't made anything yet, production starts today! I will be sure to post pics when I have them. Don't expect pics right after July 4th, I will be using all my stuff later in the month at a seperate party.

And since I don't want to post without some pics, here are links to some amazing BLEVE's: (not my pics obviously)

BLEVE = Boiling Liquid Explosive Vapor Explosion. I don't know what exactly went up in those pictures, but BLEVE's are caused when a sealed tank of a flammable liquid (propane or whatever) is heated, causing the liquid inside to boil until it ruptures the container, vaporizes and ignites, creating a massive blast.

Here is a better pic of the rockets I got. Since taking the pic all the rockets with plastic nose cones have been modified by adding aerial shell powder and stars for a much better payload. I plan on fusing them all together and launching them from a large ABS tube I found. It should be a lot of fun. [Big Grin]

I'm working on a site too, visit it at:

www.geocities.com/brainfevert

Far from complete and very likely to get a fresh skin and/or update now and then.
It contains some simple tests with small putty charges and also one with the polumna type BP cracker.

Here was my stash:
http://members.shaw.ca/raydawg/pics/stash1.jpg

(notice we had 3 tins of gunpowder, and that red thing is an old 1950's "weed remover" or a flame torch.)

More pics to come (I blew up barney dolls, barbies, trolls, and the cookie monster)

I tried making a cone for an SC today by wrapping copper wire around a cone, I made it 3 layer thick. Sadly it failed, pics below.

As you can see the wires where simply crumbled up. I used 50G of ANNM.

Have to remove that foot before I can make one.
