I stop by the Rockwell office in suburban Rochester and[66Dexchange the card, while I'm there, I buy a second one (Yeah, on my[67Dcard) and drive home.... by 9pm that night the circuit is up, and we[68Dare on the air. Results- Very good line, no noise, can be converted[67Dwith another card for a modest fee if I want the bandwidth. When he was tagged by the feds, he[67Dhad been downloading software (in the form of C sources) from      [67Dvarious AT&T systems. According to reports, these included the Bell[67DLabs installations at Naperville, Illinois and Murray Hill, New    [67DJersey. Prosecutors said he also gained entry to (and downloaded[64Dsoftware from) AT&T systems at a NATO installation in Burlington, [66DNorth Carolina and Robins AFB in Georgia. AT&T claims he stole $1  [67Dmillion worth of software. Some of it was unreleased software taken [68Dfrom the Bell Labs systems that was given hypothetical price tags by[68DBell Labs spokespersons. Agents took his 3B1, two Atari STs he had[66Din his room, and several diskettes. SH is 17 and apparently will be[67Dtreated as a minor. At the time of this writing, he will either be[66Dsubject to federal prosecution for 'computer theft' or will be [63Dsubject to prosecution only by the State of Illinois. SH's lawyer,[66DKaren Plant, was quoted as saying that SH "categorically denies [64Ddoing anything that he should not have been doing" and that he "had[67Dabsolutely no sinister motives in terms of stealing property." As we[68Dsaid, he was just collecting software for his new Unix PC. When I[65Dtalked to Ms. Plant on September 25th, she told me that she had no[66Didea if or when the U.S. Attorney would prosecute.
