I bet they all had heard of you. And put me down for one of those printers too. Would you believe my "state of the art" printer is a 1979 Epson MX-80 F/T dot matrix. If it really is smokin' it cranks out 80 CPS !!! Oh yes, I do have a Diablo Dasiy wheel too!! (it kicks at 15-20 CPS!). Both are really funny connected to a 33Mhz 386, Super VGA, with a 700 Meg hard disk, and a 20Mhz 386 with a 110 Meg hard disk! I guess I need to update my printers :-) TONY ANTONUCCI, 06/08/90,01:52:29,215351,2,TONY ANTONUCCI,,3 06/08/90,01:56:24,215352,2,TONY ANTONUCCI,, E#43683,3 06/08/90,05:33:59,215353,2,ERIC BOHLMAN,,2 06/08/90,08:13:55,215354,1,RICHARD GOZDAL,,2 06/08/90,09:05:35,215355,2,ALEX ZELL,, 06/08/90,09:29:48,215356,2,COUDAL S,g, 06/08/90,09:30:50,215357,2,EDGAR COUDAL,,3 06/08/90,09:36:16,215358,2,PETE JONES,,0 06/08/90,09:50:09,215359,1,CHUCK JONES,,9 06/08/90,10:40:23,215360,2,DENNIS STAHL,,2 06/08/90,13:04:59,215361,2,JACK HOMA,,4 06/08/90,13:16:28,215362,2,DENNIS STAHL,,0 06/08/90,13:22:48,215363,2,IVAN MURPHY,, 06/08/90,13:39:17,215364,2,MARTY LINGG,,2 06/08/90,18:00:51,215365,1,BRENT JONES,,10 06/08/90,18:43:09,215366,2,BOB PAYNE,chicago il, E#43684,8 06/08/90,21:11:28,215367,2,DON PIVEN,,1 06/08/90,21:49:55,215368,2,MARTIN RASCH,MILWAUKEE/WI,10 06/08/90,22:13:57,215369,2,JAMES SCHMIDT,,3 06/08/90,22:29:53,215370,3,STEPHEN SVOBODA,ARLINGTON HTIL,9 06/08/90,23:51:45,215371,2,BILL MATTSON,,4 06/09/90,00:30:48,215372,1,JOHN DOE,,5 06/09/90,03:02:03,215373,2,DON PIVEN,,14 06/09/90,03:51:30,215374,2,WARD CHRISTENSEN,, 43680 06/07/90 WARD CHRISTENSEN => DENNIS DUFFNER: "R/BBS LIST" 43681 06/07/90 WARD CHRISTENSEN => ALL: "RETURN FROM COMDEX" 43682 06/08/90 BILL MATTSON => ALL: "SUPER PC-KWIK" 43683 06/08/90 TONY ANTONUCCI => MARTY DIPPEL: "STUFF" 43684 06/08/90 BOB PAYNE => ALL: "NEW BBS" - End of summary - Retrieving flagged msgs: C skips, K aborts. Msg 43680 is 01 line(s) on 06/07/90 from WARD CHRISTENSEN to DENNIS DUFFNER re: R/BBS LIST The BBS lists didn't keep coming my way, so I had nothing to post. Msg 43681 is 21 line(s) on 06/07/90 from WARD CHRISTENSEN to ALL re: RETURN FROM COMDEX Just returned from Comdex. AFter seeing the Fall one in 'Vegas, that had about 2x the attendees, it was a little bit of a let-down. But mostly, I guess the thrill of going to my first one was what was gone. Had a great time with my friends at Magee Enterprises booth (AutoMenu, TreeView - my favorite - and a new product - a screen manager library for programmers). I had a chance to check out most of the laptops - from Poquet, to Toshiba, Sharp, Maxar, NEC, and others - nothing made me sorry of my recent purchase of a Toshiba T1000XE. The Sharp WAS smaller, faster, higher res, but the built-in batteries aren't acceptable to me since I discovered removables. Got to shake hands with quite a few "biggies" - Byte Editor Wayne Rash, Dvorak co-author Anis, PC mag biggie Barry Simon, Dennis Hayes, Phil Katz, Shel Hall (Biggie @ Crosstalk), and a host of BBS biggies @ a Hayes- sponsored meeting. Generally a grand time! The stress and bad vibes really melted away for a few days. Very hard to come back. Nothing else too exciting - jillions of 486s running 117MHz Landmark speeds, (i.e. "equivalent AT MHz"), etc. Tektronix demoed my next printer - a $7999 300 DPI color postscript - down $2K from the revolutionary-priced QMS ColorScript - and better quality. Uh, anyone got a spare $7949? (I'll add the $50 ;-) IBM, Compaq, Microsoft, etc weren't at the show! I hear Super PC-Kwik is really good, plus have seen two or three articles lately about how these progs speed up disk intensive activity. Any thoughts or war stories???
