U.S. GET YOUR BLOODY HANDS OFF IRAQ!!! 1/17/93, 11:25am Vietnam Veterans Against the War Anti-Imperialist CALL FOR CONTINUED URGENT ACTIONS It's the two year anniversary of the Persian Gulf Slaughter and they are bombing Iraq again. The threat of further attack is looming, with the U.S. finger on a hairpin trigger. Our opposition to the treatment of the people of the world by the U.S. "armed thugs" will be heard. 1/13/93, VVAW AI called for emergency urgent actions on the day of any bombing during the Sept. 1992 bomb threats against Iraq. This call and statement was reissued and local, national and international forces are acting in conjunction with this call and on their own to oppose these acts of war. Reports on Actions against the Bombing of Iraq Seattle, WA, USA; 1/13/93-5pm; 100 people rallied at the federal building, speakers on the bullhorn shouted their disdain and voiced their disapproval of the bombing of Iraq 1/13/93 and the continued war on Iraq by embargo and strong-arm tactics by the U.S. At one point some protestors blocked traffic for about 10 minutes until the cops moved them off the street. In solidarity with the protest a candle light vigil was held by some religious pacifist forces. A meeting was set up for this weekend. AP news interviewed Vietnam vet, Brian Chambers, who later was heard on National Public Radio. Much of the local newspaper, radio and TV had coverage of the event. We also did several radio interviews. We were asked by a public access TV show "Political Diversities" to be on their program 1/14/93 6pm channel 29 to speak on the Iraq attack. Generally, however the airwaves were saturated by the media claims that they "couldn't seem to find any opposition. The American people seem to wholeheartedly support this action."
