Party history: Pro-Canadian party founded in 1997 by former Liberal MP and Defence Minister Paul Hellyer and "dedicated to the principle that Canada can best serve its citizens and the world by re-claiming and maintaining its political and economic sovereignty as an independent country." 2006 election: Ran 34 candidates and got 6,102 votes. Fogal ran in Vancouver-Kingsway in 2006, taking 143 ballots or 0.3 per cent of votes in the riding. She has run in Vancouver area ridings since 1997. This time around: CAP has 20 candidates: five in B.C., three in Alberta, nine in Ontario and one each in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
