The Pyramid of Amenemhet I

Original name: Amenemhet is high and pleasant
Original height: 55 m / 183 ft
Base length: 78 m / 260 ft
Angle of inclination: 54¡ 27' 44"

Being the pharaoh who has founded the Middle Empire, Amenemhet I reintroduced the pyramid as a royal burial site. His pyramid was erected on a sloping field and his site was laid out in a rather symmetric and traditionalistic manner.




The Pyramid of Sesostris I

Original name: Sesostris overlooks the two lands
Original height: 61 m / 203 ft
Base length: 105 m / 350 ft
Angle of inclination: 49¡ 23' 55"

One mile southward lies the pyramid of Sesostris I. It was built around a core of rock and faced with limestone. Besides 10 secondary pyramids of dignitaries, a mortuary temple was excavated that resembled 6th dynasty mortuary temples.
