We spent all day trying to track anything we could kill. We didn't find anything that was big enough to be worth killing until the end of the day. At the end of the day we found a lone woolly mammoth that was straggling behind the rest of it's group. We gathered in a circle to try to contain the beast and then kill it with our spears. It was unorganized and hard to get all of the group to collaborate with each other enough to form a circle around the beast. When we finally got into position to strike we all threw our spears at the beast as a group. The beast was injured but still able to run away in agony. We immediately started following the dying beast to see where it would collapse. We were following it for a very long time; and when we found the beast it was already dark for a while. We chopped the beast up into sections we could carry with rocks that had sharp edges. We carried the meat from the beast on our backs and on long poles that two people carried. When we got back to the campground the women got out of their tents and took the meat from us to be prepared for cooking over our fire. The women worked fast to skin and gut the remains of the beast that we brought back from our successful hunt. After we ate, the entire tribe, (except for myself), went to their animal-skin tents to rest for the next day. Meanwhile, I was thinking about how the mammoths we killed always took more effort to kill because the only tool we had to kill the beast were our spears. It occurred to me that when we threw our spears at our prey, the spears (most of the time) never made it to the animal, or the spear doesn't even penetrate the skin of the animal. I noticed that when you bend small branches, they snap back into shape very fast and with a lot of strength. When I had some free time during our previous hunt; I took a thin straight branch, bent it, and tied it together with some wool-string we had from our sheep. I put a small rock against the string, pulled back, and let go. The string shot the rock a pretty-good distance from where I was. I didn't try it during our attack on the beast because it would have been useless. for this to work it had to be a small, and light rock so it would hardly do any damage to any beast. But now that I thought about it I think I can make it work by putting something that is pointy like a spear against the string. It took me all night and a little of the morning, but I found the supplies I needed to make these things that look like miniature spears. I tried them out as soon as I got some rest and they worked. They worked better than anything we already had for hunting. I even killed a bird of some-kind that I latter ate after roasting it over a fire. I showed this new hunting tool (that I call a bow) to the tribe leader later in the morning. He was thrilled and amazed at what I had made. He told me that when we went out hunting today at dawn, that we would have to test this new tool out in the field. Dawn is coming up soon and I must still make 4 more bows for my brethren hunters. The hunters are already awakening so I must hurry and finish making the rest of the bows or our tribe leader will be very angry with me. I cannot write anymore so I must write the final words in this essay: The End. 675-words vx{uqkg   $ ?ACcevxyyypppppph xxMOx !D!DTimes New Roman @Graphite Light ATT\f6g^?@,ࡱ;  FMicrosoft Works MSWorksWPDoc9qࡱ; ࡱ;
