If I fed an air line into my tubs, how long should it be kept on?

Should it stay on 24/7?

yep yep....

My friend actualy split his one going in to two,
flowing right over the tops of the mushies.

With the pump ( maybe even without ) he doesn't bother fanning but once every two days, and his crops don't seem any smaller due to lack of :)

Bah.. I barely fan much anymore. All my tubs are 90 quarts.. so there is a lot of air space in there to begin with about 10" above the cakes. And I've yet to see a problem. I used to fan 3 times a day and my cakes actually started to dry out quicker. I recommend minimum fanning.

but if there are casings involved, once fruiting begins, you'll want more air than just fanning daily. but if you're gonna pump air 24/7, you should humidify it 1st by pumping it thru water, as in a bubbler.

wont that keep humidity too high..going thru a bubbler.?

By plinkerdink420 (Plinkerdink420) on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 - 12:11 am:

the constant airflow through the air pump, may have a drying effect on the air, quote was suggesting bubblin' it to try and counter this

Yep, forgot to mention,

the air tubes running into my friends set up run 24/7, it is also perlite humifified.

Mine runs into a 6" airstone velcro-ed 'bout 3/4 the way up the tank, the original idea being to warm the outside air going in. Wonder if it might help humidify it a little too??

my friends air pumps are running through hot water (water heater)... keeps humidity and temp PERFECT in a 50 gallon tub.
