Ok, this is my first attempt at cactus, so after reading through archives about san pedro extraction...I'm wondering how it can be done without using a pressure cooker..

Can anyone please share extraction/ injestion methods....

Any kind of help is lovingly appreciated.I have 2 6 inch Peruvian Torch cuttings.

If i remember right, Nan said that you can use a regular pot with a lid on it, but you have to do the extraction a couple more times then normal. But you might want to hear that from him, or someone with that exp.

Just follow the same tek and as Jesseb points out- repeat the mush boiling/ straining part a few extra times. The PC will break down the fibers of the cactus faster then regular boiling. Boiling will work you just need to make sure all the fibers are used and abused. This part of the tek is better off OVERDONE than underdone.

I went berzerk and took a weekend a ways back and made some syrup out of some San Pedro.
I made a seperate pot with the majority of the waxy skin still on the plant. Pealing is a grand pain in the ass!
I just snipped off the thorns sliced and diced about 5 feet of it and PC'd it as per Nans tek.

I can still not taste the diff. between the syrup I made with skin on and the syrup with skin off.
I had no noticable stomach issues either--
Beyond the fact that both batches taste so bad I nearly puke everytime I drink it!

I would still follow the Nan tek very closely because I may just have gotten some very thin skinned cacti!!!

I like to dose 3 oz. of my syrup. If you read Nans notes on the sub. you remember that it's best to make alot of syrup at a time so you can create a consistant dosing method. My syrup may be thicker(more concentrated) than yours! Three onces of yours might put me on the moon! There is no set dose SO BE CAREFUL!!!!

Variables such as syrup thickness and basic plant potency can vary from batch to batch. Bigger batchs = more consistant dosing!

The first time I dosed syrup I tried little doses over time (like 1 oz. an hour) until I found my glide path.

I've always been a little trippy. It takes very little to get me goin!
