I picked this up at the garden centre , it sits at about 85 , the bottom is hot so i put a towl in it so the jars dont sit directly on it , will it speed things up?incubator

I like it,
as long as you dont get your jars too hot! just keep em like 86* degrees and they will go alot faster... how much was that thing?

yah I like that thing also. Is it ment to be a incubator or was it for something else and you just modified its use. Also does it heat itself or do you have like a reptile pad or heating blanket underneath it.

If you have some extra eggcrate (light panel diffuser) cut a piece of it and set the jars on top of it... works well for me nice clean and stable. The towel could harbor contams or bacteria would be my only concern. Great Idea!

I never gave to many details i was 2 interested to see if my pic appeared.
It cost £10 about $15 i got it from BnQ a large DIY centre , its main use is , u put soil in the bottom and all your plant cuttings in a row , plug it in and it makes your cuttings grow quick then you pot them up.
The only modification i have or will make is to put a kinda second floor in it so the cakes dont sit on the bottom cause when i came in tonight it was at 90 degrees , so i could even just take the lid off it to cool it , experamintation is required.
I will keep you informed of its performance.

Eggcrates would be far less sterile than a cloth. They're full of ecoli and shit.

I got cardboard from the back of a picture frame trimmed it and it keeps the cakes off the bottom.I am still trying to get the temp down from 90 to 86, maybe i will put an object of some sort to leave the lid open a little

Brad the egg crate I was referring to is the plastic used in ceiling light panels... it cleans up nicely and allows for good air flow.
