Ok, I wanna post for my buddy,
but he is SOOOO paranoid about incriminating himself... He was ready last night to
destroy his film that he wants to develop
for the site...

Got any arguments to help talk him out of it?
He really wants to place them up for everyone...
but is REALLY worried.

And, what are the laws for developing film?
He wants to take them to costco, but they have his name and all that there... It will feel like turning himself in.. Any suggestions?

Definately dont take them to a 1 hour photo place. They are developed there and people look at them. Places that take like a week are ideal as they are shipped off somewhere and often done by machines and such.
Now, on top of that, make sure you're not in any of the photos, and dontdo somethign stupid like taking the picture of a mushroom while holding it up in front of something unique to you, or could cause a court to link the picture to you.
If I were you u, I'd get a digicam or a webcam. I understand they cost money, I had the same issue myself, so I borrowed my friends webcam.

i'd mail them to a lab in a different state.
that should forestall any legal ramifications.

How would that work? I thought this stuff was schedule 1 substances, or whatever it is, which makes it federal and transcends state borders?

By nuecrew (Nue) on Friday, January 04, 2002 - 07:11 pm:

Why don't you call up one of these places(from a pay phone) and ask them what their policy is. I had a girlfriend who worked at one of those places and they had lots of party photos with pics of drugs being used but the only one she ever remembered being reported was a pic of sexual child abuse. But remember too that 90% of what cops pick up is off the streets and from the "good" citizen. I wouldn't have them developed. Quotes quote,"cover your ass".

i will never and have never taken pictures of anything incriminating (aside from pot smoking) on film... digital is the only way to go, i say... but that's just me... i don't trust anyone but myself... if you have a friend who works at a photo place that will make sure no one sees your buddie's pix or maybe take a photography class and learn to develope them yourself.. heheee!... but seriously.. i have had friends who took many pictures of pot plants and the like and had them developed without a problem except when a cop found them while searching him, but that's a different story

plink,

I agree, digital pics only, I would never jeopardize myself by developing film of illegal substances.

You never know, some wanna-be cop may be developing your film, and think he's a hero for making a bust. It's just not worth it.

Me and my girlfriend took some racy pictures a year or two ago. We took them to Meijer (a midwest "superstore") to be developed, next day service. When I got the pictures back there were only a few there, no racy ones. Included was a note saying we were breaking federal law and could be arrested. Granted it was not like pictures of drugs but the point is they are, or may well be, looked at by square discriminating eyes. I'm sure whoever left me that note would have called the police if it were anything more illegal. Find access to a digital, it beats having to worry.

it's pretty damn unlikely that any federal agency is going to bother trying to bust joe shroomer in state A for developing pics in state B.
local agencies are much more of a real threat, hence my suggestion to send them out-of-state.

By jim brown (Shrhobbyist) on Friday, January 04, 2002 - 11:58 pm:

But state B can easily enough send the incriminating pictures to the proper authorities in state A and leave it up to them. Just something to consider.

true enough,
just very unlikely.
if someone's that paranoid,
there is no safe place to get
film developed commercially.

Can u say "poloroid one step"
buck a picture after u pay for the camera :)

By jim brown (Shrhobbyist) on Saturday, January 05, 2002 - 04:14 am:

But consider Quote, a want-to-be-cop could just as easily send your pictures to the authorities in another state as he could send them to the authorities in his own state. So I don't know if having your pictures developed in another state would make it that much harder for them to find you and bust you. Or if it would be that much harder for them to pursue you.

It might though, I just want people to stay out of trouble so maybe I'm being a little too paranoid.

Schedule 1? OUCH!
Its schedule 5 here.... WHat is pot there? Dont tell me shrooms are more illegal in the states than pot is?

By mrnngglry (Mrnngglry) on Saturday, January 05, 2002 - 06:16 am:

marijuana, LSD, mushrooms and heroin, all schedule 1.

methamphetamine, schedule 2.

alcohol and cigarettes, age 21 and 18 respectively.

makes sense, no?

true.
but that would not be sufficient to get a search warrant, as there's no way to prove where the pictures were taken, or by whom, etc.
i could do the same, mail cops in georgia some pics and say that i got them from you.
cops are used to people doing that kind of thing, trying to set-up their enemies.
no judge would use such hearsay from an out-of-state 3rd party to issue a warrant.

playboy mentions that there are a few disreet places to get your photos done. they were talking about nudes/fucking though. the woman they talked to said they get qaite a few pot plant pics and such but they dont turn them in. and because they usually are developing nudies they dont keep personal info or negatives.
i dont know of any federal laws prohibiting taking photos of yourself nude. the photomat prolly has its own morality there.
all this burning paranoia over gettig your pics developed when when you post them to a site your ip is logged. thats how they catch KP peddlers
