Well I, fortunately, am not hungover this New Years Day, although I have been on many previous. I did, however, get prodigously stoned and eat way too much food... so much that I had trouble sleeping.

I have read, recently, that lots of water and tomato juice were probably your best bet to combat a hangover.

I also read a while back that it was considered "standard proceedure", in the early days of Alcoholics Anonymous to nurse a guy back to heath on a diet of sliced.. chilled.. tomatoes, boiled cabbage, and Karo syrup(Nanook ought to like that).

I always preffered the "Hair of the dog that bit you", method, that means essentially drinking your way through it. You can keep from "paying the piper", for many days with this method, but when he does come calling, he exacts a heavy price.

What are your tried and true hangover remedies.

Would anyone like to share?

I hear ya man! Skipped the Pans last night and hit the Knob Creek. OUCH!
Feel pretty good today--
Supposedly, fruit, honey, water, and rest are good for hangovers.
Drinking more booze is always good, till the shakes set in.....Bloody Mary's are good too.
I recommend not drinking in the first place. Pancreatitis sucks, so does having a watermelon sized liver!!!! fishy1

playboy swears by honey on a slice of bread. they figure that the shitty feeling is a good part low sugar because a lil overindulgence.

Usually if I am not to loaded at the end of the night I'll drink so much water until I can't drink anymore. I also just learned this new years day that if you eat slightly burnt toast the next morning that also helps, as it being burnt adds more carbohydrates to your body and helps settle your stomache and clean out your system faster...

Uh, the filll yourself with water idea isnt so cool. Did that on my birthday after splitting a 60 with my friend. I was fine until then, the water is what I puked up.
They say one glass of water for every ounce of alcohol you consume. I wouldnt do it all at once. Drink water thru out the night

Try this. It really works. Get some Vitamin B1, this is a water soluble vitamin rapidly excreted by the kidneys... So you can dose pretty high... It is the vitamin the liver uses to break down alcohol and fussel oils and is adminstered in the ER intraveniously in alcohol poisoning cases.

Take one tablet with a glass of water before you go to bed, maybe a couple of aspirin ;)

Straight aspirin only should be used to kill the pain. I start treating a bad hangover in the morning with 5 aspirin and a B1 tablet washed down with 12 ounces of water.

Tylenol has been implicated in instances of liver damage and liver failure when it is taken in conjuction with high doses of alcohol. Aspirin is much better + B1 really helps = relief!

Caffein helps a great deal but do not overdo your stressed system, keep drinking water slowly but you can mix in coffee, soda, I take a half a tablet...

Go back to bed

saw something on cnn about a new commercial product being sold in some west coast bars.
forget the brand name, but it's been documented scientifically to help.
only contains avocados & sasparilla, if i recall correctly.
anyone else see that ?

I saw that, too. "First Call" I think is the name.
My favorite hangover cure has always been the biggest, greasiest double cheeseburger you can find and a chocolate shake as early in the morning as you can get it. I don't mean from a chain burger place, got to be a little Ma & Pa place to be right.
