Hi, I just got a $25 gift certificate for barnes and noble and I figured I had might as well put that towards a mushroom book... so are there any mushroom growing books that come to mind that you would say are exceptional? are there any better than Paul Stamets' Growing Gourmet & Medicinal Mushrooms?

The other famous Stamet's book....The Mushroom Cultivator.

I just ordered another copy myself... after selling my old copy to a friend I am tutoring.

Ended up being like 33 bucks, after shipping was factored in.

Barnes and Nobles and both carry those two Paul Stamets books.

The Mushroom Cultivator... is the one I consider the better choice, to supplent your growing knowledge for bulk, Magic-Shrooms.

Both are good books though.

Does it cover different methodolologies and edibles?

s'pose I oughtta go look for myself. I'm looking for something that will give me a basis for understanding some of the more advanced stuff you guys throw back and forth, and stuff on growing different edibles. Especially want to take on the challange of morels someday.

And azures.

For a more broad range of mushies.... the best choice would be...

Gorwing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms, by Paul Stamets... A big, nice volume.

I got mine on clearence at a while back for hella cheap, like 15 bucks.

Might want to check that site out, Boomer.

Sorry, just home for lunch, no time to post links right now.

oops, I forgot about this query. Sorry- Thanks for the info brettie and Shroo- it's a lot more expensive now.

I see the 'Cultivator' features lots on contams. That interests me.

Dang, I can't make up my mind. Reckon Edibles and Gourmets'll have to be the first.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'd say you rock, but it's more rolly around here, I, you guys roll!

no, GGMM is not nearly as useful, imo, as TMC.
get TMC 1st, if you must chose.

By An guy (Boomer) on Thursday, January 03, 2002 - 11:42 pm:

allright, takin your advice, and will get GGMM later on. TMC talks about other mushrooms too? Gourmets and stuff? I was under the impression it was mostly for cubies and the like.

Ok, I made up my mind, and I'm not listenin no mo!

la la la la la la la I can't heeeeear you...

Th last mushroom book i looked in ( around a month ago ) suggested drying your shrooms in the oven on low heat. Geez....

Was a quarter inch thick and like 24.95...

TMC covers a lot more than just cubies
