I'm just wondering how you guys organize your cakes to keep track of strains, flushes, etc. I'm going to be labelling the tin foil under the cake with the strain and a number representing which flush it's on, but aside from that, I'm not sure of the best way to do it. Do you keep cakes on their 2nd or 3rd flush in a different container to keep track of them? Do you label them? I have a few strains growing & I don't want to confuse them. Any ideas on how to keep them all straight?

I keep track of them by writing the initial of the strain ontop of the lid. I don't keep track of what flush it is but i should.

use a spread sheet to map your terrarium. 1 cell for each jar, you can put whatever info you want in the cell and change it easy enough.

1 worksheet per terrarium, each labeled as to which one it is, the ter/tub labeled accordingly.

or call each worksheet 'green tub', blue tub in closet, blue tub under bed, etc.

just make sure you put the cakes back where they came from when you take them out for whatever reason, same with jars.

It's an idea, anyways.

Well, when I prepared my first 12 jars I made a sheet that was divided into 12 cells each containing info like substrate, date of sterilization, date of innoculation, date of 100% and jar number. The only thing I didnt record (and wish I did) was date of germination.
Since then I've created an awesome spread sheet. I got 100% in my computers course last year, and I'm quite the whiz when I comes to data processing (spread sheets and stuff). It's quite the notebook of information, it tracks dates on everything, I have spots for wet yeilds, dry yeilds. Then a page for stats, to help me compare which substrates, and other info will give me the best yeild.
Of course I'd recommend keeping a spreadsheet like this password protected for a little security

Wow, I have colonized at least seven strains, and have them all mixed up....

Thats a GREAT Idea boomer...

Right now I have no idea whats what.
Cept that some fruit prettier than others, some fruit big, some fruit small....

You're funny Doc.

Brad, izzat an excel sheet?

Could I get you to send me a copy? I'm competent with spreadsheets, but not 'whizzy'

Just an empty copy, if that's cool, I don't wanna know your stuff, just the template, give me something to go off of (I just had the idea, posted it- haven't built it...)

If not, that's cool, I understand how that goes in this spooky world.

If so, [email protected]

Just take out the 1 for the email eddress to work.

And thanks in advance if you are able to send it on.

I'm not totally done it yet, but will send it when I am.
Btw, the "1" you added for security might not work. If I were you I'd do something like or me_at_you_dot_com
Some filters may cut that one out.

By An guy (Boomer) on Wednesday, December 19, 2001 - 03:32 am:

k, that's ok then. Will excel read quatro pro?

hushmail ain't workin anyways- I saw some other threads where folks is having trouble with it, so I tried to send something to myself, and I can't.

So, reckon I'll dink around in excel a little, come up with something workable.

Wish I coulda seen yours, but I'll get by...
