The actual T.E.K. (not that anyone cares)  -

By jared (Jared112) on Saturday, December 15, 2001 - 04:13 pm: The Nook

I just wanted to post an update of how my 'shrooms are doing. The pics I am going to show you are of cakes that were not dunked after the birthday, and just had the double ended casing TEK applied to it. The other cakes that I did dunk are very white and fuzzy, but they are just barely starting to get pins.

These are all cakes that were not dunked and have been fruiting for about 5 days now.

I just can't wait until these little pins start blooming and turn into big ass 'shrooms!

so let's see the dunked ones.

Ok quote here are the pics you requested. The first one is of a dunked cake that is just starting to shoot up pins, I think sometime I will apply some verm to the top. The second pic is of a dunked cake with verm on top! Can you notice a difference? And why am I to believe that dunking after birth is good? It seems like dunking is something that you should only do after flushes, but I still have to find out how big of flushes I get from the dunked cakes.

The dunked one looks whiter and healthier to me.

I like dunking

Personally, I have one dunked and in the fruiting chamber. I have two more just about to hit 100% and I'll dunk one, but not the one thats already pinning. I wanna get some fruits for xmas, and i"m afraid dunking may add too long for that.

Those sure are fat asses!
Out of my two jars in my fruiting chamber, one started showing pins today. The cake is a big fluffball now, and has one pin at the botom near the verm. I was wondering, how long after the first pin appeared did it take to get a whole crapload like that?

I usually got a few more pins each day, and the ones that were already there just got bigger fast. in 3-6 more days I bet you have what I do if not better. This is my first time too.

You think they'll be pickable by xmas eve?

By Brad (Raze) on Sunday, December 16, 2001 - 11:56 pm: The Nook

I have two cakes in the terranium right now, one is dunked and has one pin that just formed. The other I birthed today without dunking, I think it has two squished pins on the top, either that or tis fluff that was water damaged (its kind of yellowy, and hard). Time will tell on those though.
Should I be dunking this cake before its too late?

it depends.
usually there's a good reason to give cakes some water right after birthing, as they'll need it to flush a heavy crop.
dunking is one way to do that,
but it's not the only way,
or the right way.
you have to see what works best for you.
i'm not a real big fan of damp verm. because of my situation-which is high-contam levels due to pets, space restrictions, security concerns, etc.
so i prefer to dunk, or right now i'm experimenting with drilling water holes in the cakes, etc.
anyway, there are many ways to add water.
but it is a good idea to add some,
any way you chose.

jared, i just noticed that you posted the same cake twice, the 2nd pic you posted, of a non-dunked cake, is the same cake that you just posted as a dunked cake, again, the 2nd pic.
what's up with that ?

that was the non-dunked cake from the 1st set of pics.

Yes I noticed that, They are the same cake, same time, just different angles. I usually snap 5-10 pics every time I see them so I got it mixed up in the upload, anyway. I could not edit my posts due to some problems which I believe now is taken care of. Here is the one that I ment to post.

nice strong growth!nice even pin set also!
cakes are s nice 2 use for easy cultivation..
a friend of mine who has been growin for a while says stop watering them now, just leave them be..
here is a tip i have never seen posted anywher and i thought it would be useful 2 you.
if you have a fishpump fil your jar with hot or boiling water..let cool for 30 sec..and bubble it inside your bin..this is the best way my friend has ever figured out for raising humidity..just dont let the droplets shoot all over the cake..
i know that everyone here will challenge this idea in here for one reason or another and thats fine.in my oppinion perlite is garbage!thy this and you will see its benifits...especially @ the stage you are @!good luck!
