Ok I harvested my first batch and they are pretty dry by know. There is a party in 2 weeks that me and some friends are going too. I want to take some shrooms to this party, but I want to test them out first(tonight). My problem is I don't have a scale to measure the grams that I am going to eat tonight. Can you guys help me out with an average weight of say a 3 inch shroom(dry). Some how I need to know how much I am about to eat. Any suggestions would be great.

In waverider's own words:
"We used a quarter and made a rough scale when we first started our hobby. Use a coat hanger to make a balance. Put a qtr in a baggie and clip it to one side. Put shrooms in another baggie clipped to the other side. Balance the two sides. The qtr weighs about 2 g's if I recall correctly. It works in a pinch if you're not worried about extreme accuracy. "

"a variant on waverider's suggestion.
instead of a coin in the baggie to balance,
use water measured by an old syringe.
1 cc of water = 1 gram."
either way will work

actually a quarter weighs 5.67g, so that's not accurate, so sorry. Here's another way. Are you familiar with pot? Do you know how much it takes to roll a joint? A fat dube takes about a gram. So crush the shrooms in your hand. Make a pile that looks like a dube's worth, and you have agram.

Ummm.. Why not just use quotes 1cc of water is 1gram? Why find other ways, with a one that will work right in front of you?

What if you don't have a syringe or 1cc measurement device handy? I was just curious as to paper clips having a uniform weight by size, not necessarily for weighing anything.

the best standard for weight in common articles is US coins. A nickel weighs precisely five grams, a dime weighs 2.268, and a quarter weighs 5.76g. They are all exactly the same and don't change

I want to try building my own scale. If my first batch of shrooms is successul I will invest in a PC and scale. But I dont want to invest way too much, I'm supersticious and am affraid that will make me fail in this.
So out of using say like dixie cups, and the fact that 1mL of water is 1g, how can I construct a scale?
I was thinking that it'd be either a balance type, or some sort of pully design, just have no clue how to set it up right. Any tips?

Eh, use a nail in a wall, a balance(the thing to tell you its straight with a bubble in water), a hanger, string and 2 ziploc bags... you should be able to make it given the ingredients.

how about a coat hanger on a nail, the cups affixed at each end by string, put shrooms in one cup then fill the other with water until balanced...

search for home made scales, or buy one for 30 bucks.. not expensive and well worth it in this hobby!

a letter scale works ok in a pinch, and very portable. about $2.49 at a stationary store, but they are everywhere! $1.89 at the convienience store on the corner...

A letter scale won't be very much help to measure a 4" shroom, though. Only for an eighth or more.
