|PR Overlay Problem||-|

I have been reading how ppl are having difficulties pinning PRs here and on the shroomery. I just wanted to say that I have had great success when birthing as cakes to dunk before the initial flush. This makes for a great pinset. Some of the cakes didnt require this but 3 of them did, it create a great flush too, having dunked them, one cake is on its 2nd flush and looking great! 20 or so big fat pins... Now just gotta make a glovebox to make prints =) think ill do that tomorrow, need to pick up some gloves

so then, you figure this strain needs the extra water just to get going ?
it might also be the low humidity making the cakes dry out while invitro.
since it's now essentially winter in the northern hemisphere, humidity is at all-time low.
my last batch of pf classic was ready to go in only 3 weeks yet flushed pretty pathetic until i re-hydrated them, they have rebounded now and look to give a decent 2nd flush.

first flush on the PRs was pathetic, less then a g dry. I was hoping for abit more... They are cool lookin shrooms tho, gotta say that! I think the combination of the water in the dunk and the cool temp of the ater initiates the pinning. Im no super biology guy tho so i really dont know why it works but it does =) They did not pin in the jars and they were in there 2-3 weeks after 100% i believe, at least 2 weeks... exposed to light 75-80% colonized. So maybe it is the fridged dry air of winter and they need a boost, or maybe its the cold water i use to dunk... oh ya i use the water out of those water coolers. not the tap..

The veils of some Puerto Ricans seam to be opening early, the largest out of the first flush (PF Cakes) is about 4in with the rest of them comming in around 3, I've been comparing with pics of other PRs but of course im picking earlier than the pics. Are there environmental reasons that my veils are opening early... or did I just end up with a small crop?

the most likely cause is lack of sufficient moisture.
but 3-4 inches aren't too bad, you're prolly just a little on the dry side.

ive noticed smallish shrooms too, I am letting some grow out and expand their caps this time to see how big they get, and to take a print... but dont worry like quote said it is prolly too dry, Since i have raised the humidity in the terr mushrooms are gettin nice and big, runnin humidifier 12hr instead of liek 4-6 makes a huge difference! I added a little tray of perlite aswell... keep sit nice and wet =) like when i was with your girl the otehr night..

decided to grow mushrooms last week, found quote negtek, ordered syringes over net then found this site. From what I have read on this site I'm not sure puerto rican strain can be grown with quote neglect tek. I've got 24 jars going just started them today will neg tek work?

sorry to say, that's one strain i have not tested yet.
just give it light from day 1 on,
and i'm confident it will work ok.

I was wondering if anyone could help me? I'm growing pr's and have noticed that my cakes are spinnig off two different kinds of shrooms. One is smaller about a inch and a half tall with a white cap with a pale yellow center with a very thin stem and the other is larger with a dark brown cap and a thicker stem. The larger dark ones give up a very dark print and the smaller ones leave a very light print. My questions are: are they the same spieces or two different kinds,and if they are the same will the different prints still spin out the same two shrooms? The cakes came from one print and they only have one or the other on them. I keep the cakes separate when I crumble and case.

just showing some genetic variety.
not that uncommon in a still-being domesticated strain.
you will prolly notice the same for many future generations.
