So if an invitro pin's head turns black what is to be done? Consider Invitro the tek being used. Is a black head the symptom of anything done wrong?

An abort going bad. Birth it and remove aborts before they turn black, then pop the cake back in the jar.

Is it absolutely necessary to remove the blacking one? Also, should vermiculite be re-added when putting the cake back in the jar?

Yes it is necessary to remove black shrooms. I don't know about adding verm.

you can let an abort go for a few days, if there's a good reason to delay, such as being part of a cluster of still developing shrooms.
but don't delay too long, as it will begin to rot.
as for the verm., suit yourself.
if it got mostly knocked off, adding some is good.
