Hi everyone. I'm one of the people who ordered from 3M prior to his problems. Sporeworks, who stepped in to fill the orders, has already sent my order, so it's just a waiting game now. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of any complications in sending spores over the border into Canada since the anthrax scares. I know the packages have to be labelled "spores", which started me thinking about the whole thing. I'm not looking to start a paranoid thread, so please just respond if you have definitive information one way or the other...no third-hand rumours, please.

well, all I know, from my sweetheart's dealings with international mail, is that Canadian customs routinely scrutinize and even open mail from the US. As to whether these proceedures have been stepped up or expanded in any way since the anthrax business, the authorities are probably doing a lot more than meets the eye...it's anybody's guess.

Any idea what the probable ramifications would be if they were caught at the border? I would assume the first thing done would be to find out what the syringes contained. After that, what? The spores are legal, but would they allow them to come through? I'm trying not to become paranoid about it, so it would help if I knew what worst case scenario would be. Thanks.

If they open it and have it taken to a lab for analysis, they're probably gone for good. If they do not, well, who knows? Good luck!

I know Brad. Like I said, Sporeworks is the company that stepped up to fill 3M's orders. I couldn't help the fact that they were in the States.

Support your local spore sellers.

Want my reasonable and logical take?
No terrorist is going to label a package intent on mass murder. Period.
A clearly labeled package is almost certainly to be delivered, even after an open box inspection. Expect delays. A spore syringe will almost certainly be detained in customs because it is a labeled package. It is almost certainly going to be released. If it is not, complain to the postal authorities and make sure it is released.
I, for one, will not let paranoia abscond with my common sense. As long as spore are legal, you have a right to insist on a legal and proper delivery.

Thanks Nanook...just the level-headed response I was looking for. As for supporting local dealers (responding to Nuecrew), I agree. What no one seems to be getting is that I did order Canadian (3M) originally. Sporeworks offered to fill the order at no cost so that's why I went with them. Since then, I've ordered from Captain Max & have already received the order. I don't have to be told to order locally.

Grow. Fruit. Take Prints. Trade.

Max is great to deal with. He's a little low on stock now but for my first time I'm sure I only need one race to keep me busy.

Prints might have a better chance of getting through customs quickly. Even if the syringe only is checked and then sent on its way, it still will be delayed, and there's no telling how long. I would get a print at least so I wouldn't have to worry about it taking a long time. Of course, letters might be delayed too. Have you had any mail of any kind come from the US in the last few days that did not take longer than usual to get there?

I ordered a package a week ago from the states and it arrived yesterday(in BC), there was no delay at all. So i wouldnt worry about it too much, they probably know that they are just shroom spores by now, and they know they cant do anything, so i wouldnt worry...
