If the humidity is kept high in the aquarium & perlite is used to humidify, is dunking needed between flushes or after birthing? I'm not lazy, I just want to stick with what is needed.

i don't dunk after birth, but i do between flushes, and it works magnificently. dunk half your cakes and don't dunk the others, see what works for you.

You can always use an inner resevoir too

To produce mushrooms the mycellium uses a LOT of water(mushrooms are appx. 90% water). I you want more than one flush and out, you must replenish the water supply to the mycelium in on way or another.
Dunking is just one of the ways that we can rehydrate moisture depleted mycelium that it may continue to live(and fruit).
Innner resevoir tek, the double ended casing treatment, injection, and dunking are all just different means to the same end.... they all serve to rehydrate your cakes for longer life and more fruiting.

I've never dunked before, but I double-end case. Should I do both? Will I get a better yield if I dunk, then double-end case? What's the best method for dunking? Spring Water, Distilled?

I use both in conjunction with one another.
either type of water will work fine...
I prefer distilled

well for what it is worth i use to double end case and then wait till it is grown through the ver real well then birth .and then take a syringe and add some water to the top of the cake so the ver sucks up as much as it wants to.then every other day keep this up and never have to dunk personaly i find it a pain in the ass to dunk and this way you never have to move the cake out of the tote.you got to fan out any how so what is it to take a extra few mins and add some water to the top of the cake.but again this is just what has worked for me .

Several of my Mazatec cakes have just finished their first flush. I have Cleaned the Cakes of any Abhorts (only a few) and picked the shroomies. It seems that everybody has good luck with dunking so I think I'll give that a shot. Is it as easy as it sounds? Just put the cakes back in a clean 1/2 pint jar filled with spring water with a lid and put in the fridge for 24 hours. Has anybody had any luck with just injecting the cake with 10cc of water without the inner RESEVOIR TEK (or with).
Also is it a really bad thing if the spores drop on another cake or shroomy? I planned on picking them in the morning but the damage was already done. thx in advance

Ok, I just found the dunk tek and that answered all my questions about dunking. Now only two questions linger:
1. About the resiorver tek
2. The effects of spores dropping on other cakes and shroomies.

I havn't try dunking yet, does it really work ? I havn't had any fruiting at all.

Sure dunking works or it would not be in the tek's out front. Try it for yourself and see what happens.

Spores dropping on other cakes is okay, no harm.
As for injecting w/o an inner resevoir-never tried it, couldn't say for sure.

On the PF page it says that the inner resevoir uses verm because the water is absorbed by the verm then the cake slowly takes that in. Water injected alone creates problems. This is what PF says, read it for the details.

I regularly "straw" my cakes after the first flush, and am getting ready to try a couple from the git-go...Get a drill bit a touch smaller than a straw,(5/32??), by hand put a hole in the center of the cake no farther than half-way thru. Cut a clear straw in half and fit it snug in the hole. The easiest way to fill them is with a syringe, daily, or as they use it. I spore printed a B+ not long ago that measured 10 1/2 inches.
