The new mask revision, J46X, is fabricated at Tohoku Semiconductor Corporation (TSC8), a Motorola fabrication facility in Japan. The J46X mask revision (revA 68EC/LC040, i.e. MC68EC040FE25A) is designed to replace the 0.65 micron E71M (non-rev 68EC/LC040, i.e. MC68EC040FE25) mask revision. The revA 68EC/LC040 is a drop-in replacement for the non-rev 68EC/LC040. This means that no circuit board modifications are necessary if converting from non-rev to revA.
