Aunc.3224 net.news.b utcsrgv!utzoo!decvax!harpo!duke!unc!smb Thu Apr 1 21:11:14 1982 time formats Some sites out there -- zeppo at least, though there may be others -- is using a version of ctime() that eliminates the extra blank in a date like "Apr 1". Many programs rely on the *exact* layout of the field; among them is Berkeley mail. The lack of the extra blank in zeppo.168 (among other articles; I've run across at least one other today) confused the -M option of readnews. It's possible that it could cause loss of mail as well, though that's not likely here, given the way our rmail behaves. So please -- stick with the standard. (To be sure, the "improvement" may have been made in postnews, not ctime; either way, it's a pain.) ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
