Sometimes "readnews" will show you the same news items more than once. The symptoms are these: I type "readnews". I read the news. Eventually, I reach the last item and exit by hitting RETURN. I then type "checknews", which tells me that there is news. I re-enter "readnews" and see some new news (which, I guess, came in while I was reading the news the first time). After the new news has been displayed, I see two or three of the articles I had seen before. This is a pain in the @?%^&!#!!!! I know that items submitted to multiple newsgroups are shown once for each newsgroup. This isn't the problem. At least two of the repeated items (ie, the ones I saw during both the first and second sessions) were posted to one newsgroup ONLY. Also, the items I saw both times were among the last I had seen the first time. It is as though readnews were forgetting to update parts of the .newsrc file. Anybody else had this problem?
