I want the net to thrive, and serve useful purposes; not to be killed by stupid uses. If you want to exchange crude jokes, do so via private means, where there is no chance of offending anybody. Net.movies, net.cycle, net.sports, etc. are at WORST neutral, they aren't really "useful", perhaps, but they cause no harm. The really helpful stuff (my list includes: fa.unix-wizards, net.oa, fa.info-cpm, etc.) pays for the net. Why have anything on it that can cause harm? Why risk having the whole thing "vetoed"? Why support the spread of crud? Why hurt anybody? Mel Haas, houxm!mel P.S.I complained to the usenet site administrator, not an AA rep. I don't think I am the only one who complained. I think everybody with the slightest sensitivity to the hurt words can have on others should complain, and get rid of this stuff.
