What prevents (besides the ref) a character from going E.V.A. during jump (FTL)? 2.) When a black globe generator (total energy absorption field generator), is full on (100%) , assuming that it collects all energy including kinetic thus stopping missles and missle explosions, why doesn't it also collect dust thus allowing tracking of an otherwise invisible ship? What about the ordinance from a missle explosion? Could I use sand casters as tracking devices? I have heard that Larry Niven's "The Mote in God's Eye" was the original source. I was wondering how he dodged these problems. (Obviously I'm too lazy to read the book. 3.) What does a player see when he DOES go E.V.A.? Or even looks out a portal. Larry Niven claims the person goes insane. So does that mean you could use it as a weapon by remotely opening someone's stateroom portal? 4.) If ship's capacitors hold charge, i.e. from a black globe or drop tanks, and can later use this charge to jump, what prevents one from charging his capacitors by flying through a gas giant (yes, and purifying the fuel), thus eliminating the need for tanks altogether? (or charging them in port) 5.) Does anyone have an effective method for determining the effective number of SDB's on a planet that I've created? I can use the tables from TCS to determine the planet's defense budget, and I know how many men there are in a battalion so I can guess the number of home battalions. Also does one unit of SDB's consist of one ship or a squadron? How many ships or what is the equivalent cost of one unit of SDB? one squadron? (maybe a trillion for squadrons?) 6.) How about an opinion of GDW's new game "striker"? How about "Invasion Earth"? How about "Azhanti High Lightning"? I'd love to give my reviews on any of the games I have or play if anyone's interrested. 7.) If it takes 1000 hp to break through a bulkhead, how many hp does it take to breach the hull? In "Double Adventure Hoard/The Chamax Plague" they imply that the hull is a bulkhead. But then what if the hull is armoured? ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
