Those of you floundering around looking for bugs and documentation should (he cringes) talk to me. I am one of the authors of rogue and, while Mike Toy (the infamous mctesq) is off in Italy, the sole available responsible individual. A few major comments (to fend off some of the impending deluge): a) The current documentation for rogue is almost complete. I will send a note to this group when it is (which will be next year sometime, as I'm about to head home for xmas). b) All sorts of bugs have been fixed, and new things added. I will also be setting up a distribution system for it soon, which will coincide with the availability of the new documentation. I will need to know the following a) Are you running on a VAX or PDP-11? If so, what system b) Do you need load average or user count limit checking c) Where do you want the score file to live? (/usr/games/lib/rogue_roll is the normal place, but you have a choice.) If you aren't running a VAX or PDP-11, we probably can't get you a current copy since we aren't distributing source. So think about all this, but please don't request your copy until I'm ready. The other relevant bit is that, although I do answer questions, I have limits. I'll tell you, for example, that gnomes and other monsters do occasionally drop things (if you were wondering), but I won't tell you what the scroll that tastes like slime mold juice does (even though some spoilsport has already given that away, if you read his message). I am also interested in bugs fixed, and how, and new ideas. Ken Arnold P.S.
