In a 2-quart pot or larger, place one quart of water, two cups of sugar, and two teaspoons finely grated lemon peel. Bring to a moderate boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Boil for 5 minutes -- no need for further stirring. Now add one cup lemon juice or mixed lemon and lime juice. One part lime to three parts lemon seems to work well. Pour the liquid into a bowl that will fit your electric mixer. Put the bowl and the beaters in the freezer and let the stuff freeze overnight. It probably won't get much harder than slush, because of all the sugar. Take the bowl and beaters out and put them both on your mixer. Now beat the stuff until it's almost frothy. Too much and it will start to melt, but get as much air into it as you can. Freeze it again and it's ready to eat. Goes great with espresso. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
