The replacement part for the Columbia was taken from the only possible place -- it's sister ship in construction, the Challenger. Quick, quick! It was flown by two faithful pilots in their little jet to the launch pad. Landing on the emergency runway at the Cape, it was transferred to a green van with, of course, a blue light and a siren. Light flashing, siren screaming, the van sped to pad 39A, where, without a hitch, the part was installed and tested, all by midnight. The launch time is now at 1000 EST. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
