Apur-ee.115 fa.unix-wizards utzoo!decvax!duke!cincy!pur-ee!aef Tue Jul 21 10:31:25 1981 Correction for Purdue mail address Due to the long path news from the ARPANET takes to get to most of the UUCP only USENET sites, and since netnews usually takes 2-3 days through the net to get to us, we have been unable to respond until this point about mistakes on how to get mail to Peter Hallenbeck here at Purdue's EE Department (for information about 680x assemblers). Mike (Mo@LBL-UNIX) was correct in saying that the EE department is "pur-ee" (as an earlier NET.general USENET announcement stated) but Pete's login here is "wa1yyn" not "peter" as was stated. Login "peter" was set up as an alias to Peter Kessler at ucbvax (maintainer of Berkeley's pc), so any mail sent as Mo stated will get turned around and sent to him instead! Thus, if you sent mail to Pete Hallenbeck as stated, you will have to resend the message as it was not received by Pete here. Sorry for the inconvienence this may have caused you, and also Peter Kessler (ucbvax!peter). This situation continues to bring up the problem of incompatibilities of ARPANET verses UUCP netnews. One is almost instantaneous, while the other may be several days behind. This is particularly true in our case since our netnews comes via cincy who is only a "part-time" UNIX system, and must rely on hand dialing and getting through to "duke" to get any of the news. Perhaps we need more reliable connections to ARPANET as well as better UUCP netnews connections. Any volunteers?
