I usually partition it so I have an emergency OSX for norton etc to startup on. The partions will hold more info (particularly if you have a lot of small files). And the first partion (I believe it is) is formatted on the perimeter of the HD. That will make a good partion for frequently accessed files (like the main OSX). It seems goofy to me that this 40G HD I got from Apple was only one partition. I wonder why they don't promote multiple partitions.
