------------------------------------------------------------------------ Massively Parallel Processing Two Thinking Machines Corporation Connection Machines, a 256 node vector-equipped CM-5E and a 32 node CM-5E make up the major portion of the parallel computing resources of the group. The Center for Computational Sciences (CCS) is part of the National Consortium for High Performance Computing (NCHPC). The CCS provides research computing to government, industry, and academia. Contact Denise Yates for account information. In addition to providing computing services, the group uses its Connection Machines for its own research projects. The Global Ocean Prediction project is producing massively parallel versions of operational ocean prediction and weather forecast models. Here is an MPEG movie of a Connection Machine Simulation of Ultrasonic Wave Propagation Through Complex Materials by Steve Schechter, steve@pulse.nrl.navy.mil.
