VERTIGO 3D HotTEXTª 1.0 Font Tips and Troubleshooting If you encounter unexpected results, please consult your manual for advice. You can also check the Vertigo website at http://www.vertigo3d.com for up-to-the-minute tips and technical info. Here are some frequently asked questions about fonts: Some of my fonts don't show up in the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT Font pop-up menu. Why? VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT reads only TrueType fonts, and Type 1 fonts that have been converted to the QuickDraw GX format. How do I get VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT to read my Type 1 fonts? There are two ways to get VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT to read Type 1 fonts: 1). Use the Adobe Type 1 Enabler to convert your fonts to the QuickDraw GX format. Adobe Type 1 Enabler is included on the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT CD-ROM in the Third Party Goodies folder. It is very important that you take the time to read over the Adobe Type 1 Enabler documentation included in the folder BEFORE you convert your fonts. Converting your Type 1 fonts may give you some unexpected results when working with other software programs. (See below for more information.) 2). Use Adobe Type Manager¨ Deluxe, which you can purchase from the Adobe website (http://www.adobe.com). Adobe Type Manager allows VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT to read Type 1 fonts without converting them to the QuickDraw GX format. What happens when I convert my Type 1 fonts to QuickDraw GX format using Adobe Type 1 Enabler? Adobe Type 1 Enabler backs up all your selected fonts in an Archived Type 1 Fonts folder within the Fonts folder, then converts them to the QuickDraw GX format. A converted GX font keeps the same name as the original font and remains in the Fonts folder, basically giving you two versions of your font. Should I convert all of my Type 1 fonts? Not necessarily. Because Adobe Type 1 Enabler makes a copy of each font it converts, converting all your fonts can take up alot of harddrive space, especially if you have many fonts on your system. Converting all your fonts may lead to confusion, since the original Type 1 fonts and the converted fonts have the same name. Also, Type 1 fonts converted to QuickDraw GX may cause warning messages in documents documents originally created with Type 1 fonts of the same name. Often these messages are merely warnings, and you should be able to proceed without any problems. However, you may want to convert only convert the fonts you need to use with VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT, and keep the archived versions of the original Type 1 fonts. Adobe Type 1 Enabler gives you to option of selecting which fonts you want to convert. Please read the Adobe Type 1 Enabler documentation for more information.
