I've heard that Zip drives won't work becuase the drivers require a 386 processor (I guess they work in protected mode), but I've never heard of the "guest" utility. Interlink or Laplink should work OK over the parallel port, but the parallel port isn't ECP or EPP, so you won't get the faster transfer rates that you'd get with ECP/EPP (but it'll still be faster than serial). -- Bryan At 08:31 PM 1-29-97 -0500, you wrote: [...] >Personally, I've been wondering about the Parallel adapter and whether >one of the following would work: > >1) Parallel port HD. >2) Parallel to SCSI adapter connected to a SCSI drive. A brief note. by Bryan Mason From: Bryan Mason Subject: A brief note. Date: Sun, 02 Feb 1997 08:48:55 -0800 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Hi All! I just wanted to drop a note to let everyone know how glad I am that you are all here. The Poqet PC Mailing List now has almost 100 members. That's not a huge number by mailing list standards, but I think we've gotten a "critical mass" of Poqet users -- enough people are here to actually start having conversations about the Poqet PC (not just me answering questions). Although we don't have a huge volume of messages, I hope that the messages that do come through are interesting and informative. I'd rather have quality over quantity any day. Based on a couple of messages that I saw, I want to remind everyone of a couple of things: a) Although "for sale" messages are acceptable and actually encouraged, please refrain from "commercial" postings. An individual person using the list to sell something is OK; a company using the list to sell something is not. b) When responding to a "for sale" message, please send that response via direct e-mail. Don't send your response to the entire list. These things really aren't big deals, but I would rather make a comment now instead of waiting for them to become a big deal later. Again, I would like to thank all of you for being here. I welcome and encourage any feedback and comments you have about the Mailing List and the Web Site. I'm always happy to hear ways to make this a better experience for all of you. Regards, Bryan Mason Moderator, Poqet PC Mailing List Webmaster, Poqet PC Web Site
