ELIGIBILITY FOR EXAMINATION: To be eligible to compete in this examination, you must be: 1) permanently employed in the competitive class, or in the non-competitive class or labor class if specifically noted on this announcement, (or be on an appropriate preferred list); 2) currently employed in the specified department or agency on a permanent or contingent permanent basis; and 3) must be, or have been, employed on a permanent or contingent permanent basis for the specified time in the specified title or salary grade. You may take transition and open-competitive examinations for the same title. However, you may NOT compete in a promotion examination for a title if you are permanently employed in that title or in a higher level title in the direct promotion line. You MAY, however, compete in a promotion examination for a title if you are serving a probationary period in that title. (Once you complete probation and if you pass the examination, you will no longer be considered for appointment from this promotion list.)
