Well if you are wanting to be like James Bond and open a lock in fiffteen seconds goto Hollywood because thats the only place you're gonna do it. Even experienced Locksmiths can spend 5 to 10 minutes on a lock if they're lucky! If you are looking for extremely quick access, look elswhere. The following instructions pertain mostly to the 'lock-in-knob' type lock, since it is the easiest to pick. If there is sufficent demand I will later write a file discussing the other forms of entrance, including DEAD-BOLTS. Lets begin: ---------- First of all you need a pick set. If you know a locksmith get him to make you a set. If you don't know a locksmith (and most of us dont), then various lock picks, tools and guides can be had from 'Steve Arnolds Showroom' (to get the number call 1-800-555-1212 and ask for the number of 'Steve Arnolds Showroom'. For obvious reasons a proffessional pick is the best to have, but assuming you cant get ahold of one anywhere then here is a diagram of a pick you can make at home out of an allen wrench. *Note* Use about a size 3mm allen wrench. Also, you will need a small flat head screw driver (bigger than an eyeglass screwdriver). Diag. 1 pick end -> \\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\ \\\ \\\ \\\ <- handle \\\ Now take you pick to a grinder or a file and smooth the pick end until its rounded so it wont hang inside the lock. Test your tool out on doorknobs at your house to see if it will slide in and out smootly (kinky, kinky). Now then we are ready to attempt to pick a lock. The object is to press the pins up so that the space between the upper pin and the lower pin is level with the cylinder well. Now, if you push a pin up while at the same time attempting to turn the lock with the screwdriver. This will allow you to 'keep solved pins solved' or in other word it will keep the spring loaded springs from being forced back down once you've pushed them up with the pick. It can be discouraging, but keep at it and eentually you'll get it. Heres a diagram of the whole procedure . Diag 2.
