To get started, this is what we'd need. We can expand as much as our budget would allow. Sean does networking, and makes the ISP "work". Jim does web design. Sean lets Jim host his web pages on the ISP, and provides domain names (If possible). In the event that one of us runs into trouble, the other will "dig us out". ____________________________ Stuff for an ISP: - Sean ¥ G3 All-in-one - $1400 ¥ T1 - ??? ¥ 12 phone lines - ??? ¥ 12 SupraExpress 33.6 External Modems @ $50 each - $600 ¥ Hubs, Routers, etc - $2000 Total: Per Month: $4,000 Lines and T1? ____________________________ Jim - Web hosting: ¥ G3 powerbook - $2300 ¥ 128MB Additional RAM - $370 ¥ 32MB Additional RAM - $95 Total: $2,765 ____________________________ Total: $6,765 (NOT including monthly payments on phone lines and T1) Loan: $8,000 This loan provides $1,235 extra, to pay for 2 months of overhead costs. Sean gets money made by the ISP, Jim gets money made from Web hosting. When monthly payments are made to pay off the loan, they are split. The long-term effect of this method is Sean paying $7000 and Jim paying $7000. Jim will be paying more than he is taking out, which will comphensate for Sean allowing Jim to host directly off the ISP's T1. More modems and phone lines will be added or removed as needed.
