Acca.591 net.news.b utzoo!decvax!cca!z Thu Apr 29 09:00:41 1982 Rejection and cancel bugs For some reason, we have recently been getting a flurry of duplicate articles from decvax. The vast majority of these have been successfully rejected, but a few duplicates (with the same article ID) manage to sneak by anyway. The problem doesn't seem to be a race condition, as the times on the articles are typically ten minutes apart or so. Has anyone else seen this, or understand what's happening? When I then read through the news and hit the duplicate articles, I typed "c" after the header of the second one to cancel it, without bothering to read it. News informed me that it was canceling the article locally. However, when I examined the directory for the newsgroup, I found that the previous article had been canceled instead! In this case it didn't matter, since the two articles were duplicates of each other, but this seems to be a bug. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
