Aduke.1763 net.general utcsrgv!utzoo!decvax!duke!jad Thu Feb 11 08:58:39 1982 Foobar FUBAR (alias foobar) is an acronym dating to at least to WW II which stands for (in it's clean version) Fouled Up But All Right. Everyone knows of its sibling SNAFU (Situation Normal, All Fouled UP). Both terms supposedly originated about the same time. Whether foobar means the same thing in UNIX documentation, I can't say. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
