Although the USENET is closely tied to UUCP, it is a logical network of computers that exchange news articles over a few different networks, including UUCP, Berknet, and ARPANET. When filling out USENET directory forms, the majority of people tend to put UUCP connections down rather than USENET connections. People also have tried sending me stuff for Lauren Weinstein's UUCP Map. Concerning the USENET map: I've noticed lately that people have been getting nervous about the map and abandoning it. Well, it still exists and I am currently in the process of updating it. It was starting to get really hairy so I've come up with a new strategy whereby installations, not individual machines, will be represented and then submaps can be integrated easily. I'd like to hear anybody's comments or questions on this matter. I plan to sen out a "Last Call For Systems" article before broadcasting the map & directory again.
