Rather than being dropped at operating system, she is dropped into the office automation program (or shell). One isn't dropped into an operating system, one is dropped into a command processor. An operating system is a program which allocates memory, manages files, does I/O and so on. The command processor is the usual user interface to it but is by no means the only one. ITS puts you into a debugger; the Xerox Star puts you into a desk top graphical top level. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
