Not exactly migrating or porting Unix to it, but more along the lines of a compatibility package a la EUNICE. This was largely motivated by our need for a common systems language on our machines, but has developed into the aim of enabling easy porting of large Unix programs. The C compiler does pretty well but isn't finished-- ahh, that word-addressing. We haven't touched this stuff in six months but hope to find time to start again soon, and get something reasonable this year. While I'm at it, does anyone know of a peephole optimizer for the PDP-10/20? There must be one tacked onto the end of some compiler out there. ------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
