Now, I don't want to start up the same old discussion here of "is UNIX a better operating system than VMS or vice versa?" What I do want is to find the answer to the following question: "Are there any Computer Science Departments which run VMS in preference (or in addition) to UNIX on their VAX?" If you are in such a Computer Science Department, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know and also tell me (1) Where the department is, (2) why you run VMS, and (3) do you also have a UNIX machine (and what it is). I imagine that the rest of the list will appreciate it if you only send your responses directly to me (and not the list as a whole). I intend to summarize them and make them available later (if any actually come in). Please let me know if you don't want your comments forwarded to the entire list. Otherwise, I will assume it's ok to do so. Those of you on usenet can send to ucbvax!lbl-unix!uw-beaver!furuta. The arpanet address is furuta@washington. Many thanks for your assistance. --Rick ------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
