(Why this combination, you ask? Well, it is likely that many boards will be made for said bus, but I find 8080-oid machines disgusting, and CP/M worse than disgusting. You say that CP/M does for software what bus standards do for software? Maybe, but I don't see, or don't plan to see, hardware, and besides, all that software is either written in an HLL or it isn't. If it is, then it should be portable. If it isn't, then who needs it? Chances are one will change processors fairly quickly, which will make investment in machine-dependent software worthless*. (That minimum set of needed machine-dependent software excepted--e.g. operating system and compilers, which should be replaced by programs providing the same or better interface to the newer machine.))
