My own prferences are for something like the vi undo, except that 4u would mean "undo the last 4 changes" instead of "nothing" ( I still haven't gotten vi to undo more than one change dependably ). Vi's 9-level buffering is nice, but 4-5 would be adequate, and I think that LIFO *is* a reasonable way to handle multiple undo-s. Another highly useful feature for an editor is recognition of paragraphs (based on mm macros or user choice). Sentence recognition is nice, but usually line-based commands are adequate. However, ( for large-document-editing, which my department does a lot of, and which the word processing people do, ) the paragraph is almost as much a basic text-object as the word is.
