You can see why it is nicknamed, "Conspiracy Nation". Here we go with *yet another* example of the LIES we are surrounded with. It is as if I have lived, looking at the moon all these years, and then one day someone says, "Yes. But did you know there is a whole other side to the moon; a side you have never seen?" Delving into conspiracy theories is like that. At one time, I asked one of my professors, "What do you think of these 'conspiracy theories'?" He looked at me, then said, "You mean like the JFK assassination?" He then looked around, lowered his voice, and added, "You know. I have a friend who insists that Oswald didn't shoot Kennedy!" Here's me, mock startled, responding to this "revelation" of the professor: "No! You don't mean it!" Delving into conspiracy theories is like finding out there is (allegedly) another side of the moon that you've never seen. So you get on a rocket ship, fly to the other side, and it begins to dawn on you: "My God. There is so much!" As Peter Dale Scott noted during a debate with Gerald Posner, "It is so vast." It is so vast. And here is some more to add: + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + AIDS: What the Government Isn't Telling You by Lorraine Day, M.D. (Part 1) In the preface, Dr. Day, who has worked as an orthopedic surgeon and assistant professor at the University of California, describes how she began to have the disheartening realization that those above her in the chain of command had compromised their principles. At one point she asked one of her superiors, "But what do you want me to do? Sell my soul?" The response? "Sooner or later everyone sells his soul." So much for so-called "superiors". Dr. Day charges that many of those in charge of combatting AIDS have their own hidden agendas which keep them from dealing effectively with the epidemic. Professionals routinely behave in a "politically correct" way or else risk losing their jobs. Dr. Day tried to work within the medical establishment. But when she saw to what extent many "experts" were privately saying one thing, then publicly saying another, she decided that the public had a right to know the truth. So, she began to speak out. "I made the decision to tell what I know for the safety of the unsuspecting public; for the safety of my fellow health care workers who are taking far greater risks than the government is admitting, and for my children and the children of other concerned parents." Our leaders "are playing a deadly game with our lives and the lives of our children." ----------------------------------------------------------------- I encourage distribution of "Conspiracy Nation." ----------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like "Conspiracy Nation" sent to your e-mail address, send a message in the form "subscribe conspire My Name" to listproc@prairienet.org -- To cancel, send a message in the form "unsubscribe conspire" to listproc@prairienet.org ----------------------------------------------------------------- Aperi os tuum muto, et causis omnium filiorum qui pertranseunt. Here are some current sites offering back issues (note that in the following, the information I have is subject to change and may not be entirely accurate): 1) Send message "help" (no quotes) to InfoBot@andronix.org This site has past issues of Conspiracy for the Day. 2) Back issues of Conspiracy Nation, starting with July 1994, are available via anonymous ftp from ftp.prairienet.org (cd pub/lists/conspire). For novices, "anonymous ftp" means you log in under the name "anonymous" then give your e-mail address as the password. Once you have changed directories to pub/lists/conspire, use the "ls" command to see what's there, then use the "get" command to get the file. Files may have a "Z" extension, which means you will have to use the "uncompress" command once they have transferred to your site. 3) Selected back issues of Conspiracy Nation are available via gopher to gopher.a-albionic.com (Marketplace --> New Paradigms Project --> Is Society Non-Pluralistic --> Conspiracy for the Day/Conspiracy Nation). 4) Selected back issues of Conspiracy Nation are available via anonymous ftp to ftp.a-albionic.com (cd pub/vendor/a-albionic). Note that I have been personally unable to investigate this site, due to slight problems with the prairienet system. 5) Back issues are available via World Wide Web at http://www.lighthouse.com/~ake/DepthProbe/index/home.html My thanks to the individuals involved who have kindly offered to make these back issues available. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + AIDS: What the Government Isn't Telling You by Lorraine Day, M.D. (Part 2) Dr. Day promises to "avoid jargon and excessive footnotes" and to write "in language a lay person can understand". For that, this reader is grateful. I have found that many "experts" speak a language akin to throwing magic dust, rattling magic bones, and muttering incantations. It is as if they are *afraid* to let the public in on what exactly is going on. It is as if they are *afraid* of full disclosure. One wonders why that would be. Indeed, in a larger vein, Dr. Day herself complains about what she terms "AIDSpeak". This is a sort of politically correct attitude one must have in regards to AIDS. Never mind whether or not it's true, we must be sensitive. Being sensitive has become more important than the truth. Dr. Day dared to say, "But gee. The emperor has no clothes." For that she was subjected to a calculated smear campaign by a shadowy group that has determined the "correct" way to deal with AIDS; the "correct" way to think about AIDS. Among the heresies that Dr. Day dared utter which so infuriated a certain clique now holding a stranglehold on what is being allowed into the discourse, we have the following: *** HIV infection in homosexual men at high risk may occur at least 35 months before antibodies can be detected. *** Tests of surgical gloves don't detect holes smaller than 10 microns in diameter, which would allow AIDS and other viruses to come into contact with the skin. *** The AIDS virus may actually be able to enter the body through skin contact. *** The AIDS virus can survive on a dry surface for as long as seven days. *** The AIDS virus survives freezing. *** The AIDS virus can transmit through saliva. *** The AIDS virus can transmit through oral sex. *** The AIDS virus has been found and judged infective on needles in amounts so minute that they looked like "clean" needles. I have often said that the vastness of the hidden corruption in this society absolutely boggles the mind. Dr. Day seems to have experienced a similar revelation. Because of our refusal to face the truth, because of the LIES with which we are surrounded, because we are like fish swimming through an ocean of lies yet denying that there is such a thing as water, "...the pit we dug ourselves is deepening and what will tumble in, the mind refuses to believe." ----------------------------------------------------------------- I encourage distribution of "Conspiracy Nation." ----------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like "Conspiracy Nation" sent to your e-mail address, send a message in the form "subscribe conspire My Name" to listproc@prairienet.org -- To cancel, send a message in the form "unsubscribe conspire" to listproc@prairienet.org ----------------------------------------------------------------- Aperi os tuum muto, et causis omnium filiorum qui pertranseunt. This means that, since a test for antibodies is used to determine whether donated blood is accepted or not by the blood banks, someone with an early stage HIV infection, who therefore would pass the blood screening tests because antibodies do not show up immediately, can easily donate blood. This means that our blood supply is *still* infected, though to what extent is not known. Not to say that "blood bankers" are all that picky about blood donors anyway. Dr. Day includes the following passage, written by an anonymous blood banker: The story has been "community spirit" for the good of the community -- with no self-gain by those employed by the blood bank. In actuality, no blood bank in the United States has ever gone bankrupt. They have all been profitable. They do not distribute their profits to the shareholders, (i.e. the public) but they certainly pay themselves handsome salaries with significant "perks." The only concern the fresh blood provider has is this: "How can I get enough donors?" There is no trouble getting enough customers -- i.e., every captive hospital in his territory is a customer. While self-limiting in the sense that there are a finite number of hospitals and a finite number of patients which may use a finite amount of blood, any business can operate profitably in a "known market" -- particularly if monopolizing 100% of that market. The limited source of donors, however, is a different matter. The fresh blood sector uses one basic recruiting method which I refer to as the "guilt trip." There was a time when other motivations were used -- that is, reduction in the hospital bill, free lunches, free dinners, grocery certificates, cash, etc. This is not so much done anymore. One inducement other than the "laying on of guilt" is still used today, although reduced somewhat by the currently strained economics {1} of our society. Many unions include in their contracts with employers the stipulation that if a union member donates blood to the local blood provider, that employee gets half a day (or a full day) off of work with pay. This is particularly prevalent with government employees. Some inducement to donate may be pure pressure and competitiveness -- that is, between groups, departments, etc. Nevertheless, the basic message is the implication: "You are a terrible person if you don't help your fellow man who's going to die unless he gets your blood." As expected, it is increasingly difficult for the fresh blood sector to recruit donors. As a result, blood banks do not want to reject donors for "minor" reasons -- for example, mild infection, fast pulse, swollen lymph nodes, etc. While every attempt is made to see that a donor qualifies within the limits set by law, no blood banks attempt to apply higher standards than those required by law. Safer blood products at the expense of losing donors is resisted and justified on the grounds that a shortage of blood is more dangerous than the "long odds" of acquiring a blood- borne infection. Donors are treated with kid gloves so as not to offend them. The blood bankers have resisted performing physical examinations which can be time-consuming or may reject and embarrass donors. The only driving force behind a blood bank's operation is " -- we do not want to lose donors." This economic factor is particularly important in understanding the basis of the lack of action of the fresh blood sector in 1983-85 and their almost criminally late recognition of the fact that AIDS can be transmitted by blood. Dr. Day charges that although the blood banks knew early on that AIDS *could* be transmitted via the blood, they still did not screen out homosexuals at risk for AIDS for the simple reason that this would have cost them money to recruit new donors. In 1987, it came to light that one of the blood banks had known for 2 years that their previous calculations regarding the risk of AIDS transmission from blood transfusion was not, as they had been saying, between 1 in 100,000 and 1 in 250,000, but *1 in 100*. For hemophiliacs needing more frequent transfusions, the chances were even worse. According to the *San Francisco Examiner*, "fear of AIDS hysteria" was why the secret was kept for so long. "While blood bankers and health officials sat on precedent and protocol so as not to 'panic the public,' anyone infected through a transfusion could have transmitted the virus." Of course, no one who *knew* they were infected with HIV would still go ahead and donate blood, right? Wrong. Consider the following from the *Dallas Gay News*, May 20, 1983: There has come the idea that if research money (for AIDS) is not forthcoming at a certain level by a certain date, all gay males should give blood... Whatever action is required to get national attention is valid. If that includes blood terrorism, so be it. Even today, blood banks do not test for the AIDS virus. "There is no routinely available blood test that targets the virus directly." Instead, tests are done for the antibodies to the virus. Yet, as already mentioned, it can take up to 35 months *after infection has occurred* before the antibodies appear. And consider this: We also have to import much of our blood supply from places such as Mexico, which has even less stringent testing of its blood supply than we do. Dr. Day ends this chapter by offering a quote from one C. S. Lewis: The greatest evil is not done in those sordid dens of crime that Dickens loved to paint... it is conceived and moved, seconded, carried and minuted in clean, carpeted, warmed and well-lighted offices by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voices. --------------------------<< Notes >>---------------------------- {1} "...the currently strained economics of our society." Currently strained economics? Not to worry, according to Clinton's secretary of labor, professor Robert Reich, formerly of Harvard University. Why all we need to do, according to the learned professor, is provide more job training! We already have Rutgers graduates finding no better employment than tending bar, so what can Reich be thinking of? What should we train people to be? Harvard professors, so that they, in turn, can produce more Harvard professors?! ----------------------------------------------------------------- I encourage distribution of "Conspiracy Nation." ----------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like "Conspiracy Nation" sent to your e-mail address, send a message in the form "subscribe conspire My Name" to listproc@prairienet.org -- To cancel, send a message in the form "unsubscribe conspire" to listproc@prairienet.org ----------------------------------------------------------------- Aperi os tuum muto, et causis omnium filiorum qui pertranseunt. Dr. Day delves further into this myth in a chapter called "The Myth of Self- Deferral". This concept of self-deferral may have influenced the fact that, although a test was available for detecting AIDS antibodies by 1985, testing of donors blood was not *required* until 1988. As included excerpts from an article in the *Philadelphia Inquirer* point out, The FDA did not require an AIDS test on donated blood until January 5, 1988, almost three years after the first test for detecting AIDS antibodies in blood came into use in March 1985. Between 1987 and 1988, the number of recalls of suspect blood almost tripled. For at least a year, people who had tested positive for the deadly AIDS virus were allowed to walk the streets of Philadelphia without knowing it. They had sold their blood plasma to the Community Bank and Plasma Center... The Center tested the blood for the AIDS virus and until 1987 notified in writing anyone who tested positive, according to a company executive. But that year, the Center stopped mailing these notifications after a city-funded AIDS group objected to the way it was being done. There is no federal regulation requiring blood banks to notify donors who test positive for AIDS. The Food and Drug Administration, the federal agency responsible for the safety of the American blood supply, recommends notifying donors but leaves the decision up to the blood banks and plasma centers. From March 1988 to March 1989, blood banks and commercial plasma centers had to recall nearly 100,000 blood components and medicines made from blood that had been erroneously released, FDA records show. In this marketplace, blood, a vital resource, gets less government protection than grapes or poultry or pretzels. Dog kennels in Pennsylvania are inspected more frequently than blood banks. {1}. "Self-deferral", in practice, means that potential donors are asked a barrage of sometimes obtuse questions (e.g. "Have you engaged in prostitution since 1977 or had sex within the last 12 months with someone who has *even once*?") to screen out those who may be already infected with HIV. Dr. Day gives other reasons why the screening of potential donors does not inspire confidence: --* Work places may put pressure on people to donate blood who should not have to do so. --* Some corporations offer perks for donating blood. --* The self-deferral form is hard to read. --* Previously mentioned, "blood terrorism"; i.e., willingly infecting the blood supply. Dr. Day explores the money factor behind the reluctance to make improvements in the current setup. "There are vested interests" and "there is money to be made". Hang on. It gets worse. What about bone banks, semen banks, and tissue and organ transplant banks? The first CDC guidelines for bone banks weren't even written until August 1988. Why the delay? "Every doctor in the world knows that the substance that nourishes a bone is blood. Did it not dawn on you," asked Dr. Day, "that if blood transmitted HIV, then bone, semen, connective tissue, tendons and all organs should also transmit HIV?" "Well," replied the "experts", "we've never seen it happen." "The consensus in that CDC room was sheer textbook AIDSpeak: *to infer transmission without evidence would have been unwarranted and highly suspect speculation unworthy of this august fellowship*." In other words, since it has not yet been proven, they aren't going to worry about it. --------------------------<< Notes >>---------------------------- {1} Quotes from the *Philadelphia Inquirer*, Sept. 24-28, Five- part series on Blood Banks, Gilbert M.
