Dalhousie Social Activist Law Students Association (SALSA) is pleased to present ‘IDEALaw 2006’; A Conference for a Just Society. This event will take place on February 10th and 11th, at the Weldon Law Building in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The keynote address will be given by Mark Kingwell; best-selling author, and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Toronto. A series of interactive panel discussions featuring 14 other prominent guests will bring together a number of disciplines and foster ideas on how law can be used as a tool for social change in areas such as;

• activism in the 21st century;
• law and ideals in the international context;
• law and sexuality;
• poverty and the law; and
• environmental issues in a just society.

The values behind IDEALaw 2006 are woven into the fabric of the entire conference. Funding has only been accepted from organizations striving to reach parallel goals. Locally produced food will be provided by community businesses and served on reusable dishes. IDEALaw 2006 mugs will be filled throughout the conference with fairly traded coffee.

IDEALaw 2006 will create a positive space for activists and advocates of all kinds to congregate and constructively discuss what they can do to bring us closer to their vision of an ideal world.

We invite all of Canada to participate in this year’s conference. Guests from outside of Halifax can take advantage of discounted conference rates at the Lord Nelson hotel.
